Yesterday I went to a museum-like bookstore with 60,000 art books on the sixth floor of Ginza-Six. There was a photograph of a ink painting by Musashi Miyamoto, a master of swordsmanship representing Japan. It was a simple drawing at a stretch with a brush that put ink on Japanese paper. The mind, feelings and thoughts of the person being drawn are left on the paper as they are. The moment I saw it, I felt, "Oh, yes, this is what it is .."
