Music is music. Is my favorite music close to what I want to create? It must be quiet, intelligent and gentle. And it's not long. I get tired. I don't want to inflate it repeatedly. The best is Playing Love by Maestoro Morricone. It burns for less than 3 minutes, but 3 minutes is good because I am good at playing. I don't have any performance skills, so it's two and a half minutes. I really like simple and beautiful songs like Debussy, Fauré and Satie, but they have common problems. It's long. The reason is clear. In the past, there was no cost-free way to spread the world without digital technology. The only way to do this was to drop it into a storage medium called "music score", which was extremely poorly written, and developed it using pianists from all over the world, specialized in music performance. Scores can be difficult to read, but much harder to write. It is similar to drawing a picture with colored pencils to pass on the view of Kyoto's ancient temple surrounded by beautiful autumn leaves. Zeami, the greatest playwright and the orist of the Japanese Noh theater, said "Know first that there is no place to live is the flower." What do the meanings of my songs over 4000 mean? Is it living or not? Is it impossible to impress people without constantly changing and incorporating new things? My song, that is, the very way I feel, is how it will change. It will be a long journey for almost 10 years, but I want to be more free and more "subtle and profound" by incorporating more flowers more simply. I want to continue my efforts from "flowers of the minute" to "flowers of the truth". Well, it is really the father and child of Kan-ami and Zeami. However, what Zeami is saying (the books of inherited secret teaching written 'for the art of Noh ) is still important today. The past asset utilization system by "travel" and "dream" is also really amazing. . I want to think about it slowly and make good use of it in future song creation.

The piano first starts with Bayer. This is not interesting. After all, the first step in building a worldview controlled entirely by music notes on scores. Well the first step towards the classical music empire, which is German music. A world that is clearly divided by quarter notes and quarter rests. Left hand repetitive chord. This is a disappointing first step since we start with this. At first I unfortunately did a little bit of Bayer and Czerny, but I immediately disliked it. But I heard Debussy's "Clair de lune" coming from somewhere during the afternoon nap one day. This was a shock. I came across the shock that such a free, colorful and beautiful world exists. This is the moment when the image of the piano has changed by 180 degrees. Since then, I have gone on my own journey of exploring the mysteries of scale and harmony. I explored myself little by little what sound would be produced by combining some higher sounds with some lower sounds. Well, remember, this was a good search. Is it about 13-14 years old? Facing the essential profoundness of music. Rather than learning the theory of music that people have built up, it is the process of taking the time to create the meaning of each sound. Inspired by Debussy's bohemian world, while analyzing a lot of songs such as Francis Lay and Ennio Morricone, I want to touch the abyss of free music. . Well, it has been to this day with such a flow.

There are many things on Youtube. There are many things that are absolutely impossible to get in the old days. For example, a live video of a minor concert at ELP, or a live video of a failed Weather Report. . Then there was a commentary video of Bill Evans' performance. Waltz Fordevi's solo performance. This is wonderful. . Gentle, quiet, intelligent and beautiful. . I don't listen to it too much because it's too much influence, but I've studied a little because it's a very nice performance. . I want to absorb it somehow. But surely I will master. . The last song I mastered was Playing Love by Ennio Morricone, which is a wonderful song. . Because it is an orthodox harmony structure, there is not much influence on me. Evans's code is based on a highly evolved interpretation of jazz code (although many of his novel interpretations), so it's basically difficult to incorporate just a part. Unless you incorporate this whole system as your own system, it will not lead to natural performance. But it's a bit scary for the time being because it deviates from my current style. . Did you know that Blue Note is not used for my pure music? But, I would be happy if I could evolve and take in the songs around 4000 songs. .

“Piano Ten Thousand Leaves” Project is inspired by “Anthology of Ten Thousand Leaves”, which is the oldest existing royal collection of Japanese poetries ranging from AD347 through 759; that is 1700 years ago.
Unique feature of the original Ten Thousand Leaves is that selected Wakas are created for wide variety theme of love, beauty, tranquility, nature, death, life, illusion and family, by every layer’s men and women, from the emperors to the common people; fighter, farmer, officer, entertainer.. Indeed, this is the adolescence literature borne at the dawn of Japanese culture.
This original anthology contains 4,536 poetries, and most of them are in Waka-style which has a five-line poem with the 5-7-5-7-7 syllable structure. Limited expression; style, length, and rules, emphasizes the value of the poetry.
In my piano improvisation style I found some similarities in “Anthology of Ten Thousand Leaves”. That is, tranquil, intellectual, gentle and beautiful, short piano improvisation… Short length, original, free, spontaneous, vivid, creative, sense of love, meditative.. etc. So, as a result, I wanted to start this project. 

On February 2nd, 2014:  1st tune uploaded.
On September 10th, 2016: 1,000th tune uploaded.
On June 6th, 2019: 2,000th tune uploaded.
